Energy is core to every part of our economy. There are many benefits, both economical and environmental to more efficient use of energy, but energy must still be generated and supplied to consumers. Doing so in a sustainable way will be essential if we are to ensure that our limited energy resources are used efficiently and without harm to our own environment. For all of these reasons renewable energy is now more important than ever and will only continue to become more so as we move forward.
Renewable energy can cover many forms. At USSS we focus on solar and wind-based energy sources. We have a strong heritage in solar thermal power, the direct generation of heat energy from the sun, often used for applications such as water heating, but also for steam generation created under concentrated solar illumination and used to produce electrical power.
